Hello Roman.
I am a volunteer. Assisting refugees became my way to handle this new reality. For three months already, I have been helping those who landed in my city, having fled the war.
Along with other like-minded individuals, we organised a Telegram chat group and a small active team of volunteer coordinators. In our city, the volunteer movement is not very developed, and there are few of us. Although volunteers from other cities support us brilliantly, sending packages and sharing organising experience.
I was surprised by the scale of responsiveness and solidarity among people in the volunteer movement. The horrors our president executed actually turned out to have a wonderful side effect: people are drawn to one another, ready to help in any way they know how, and as a result, find incredible new friends who are accomplishing great things.
We found teachers ready to prepare children for school for free. We raised money quickly to help another girl take classes and find work. We have ‘car-volunteers’ who help us with logistics. Overall, people are ready to assist, however they are able. It helps us feel the ground beneath our feet, and cope with the sense of powerlessness.
Certainly, among the refugees, there are people with differing points of view. There are some with a very pro-Putin stance. Not long ago, an elderly man from a ‘liberated’ city told me that we should thank God for such a talented leader as our president. And before this, he showed me a photo of their stolen, wrecked car decorated on the side with a ‘Z’ sticker.
Another man explained how much propaganda there is in war, and so therefore it was necessary to listen to Solovyov [propagandist on Russian TV] to understand the truth. This man’s apartment burned down after a bomb strike. Nonetheless, “We were liberated”.
I am no longer surprised - it only remains to accept that this is reality.
And, in my opinion, this is one of the most terrible crimes of the Kremlin regime: it has brought two peoples into a quarrel, sowed hatred and discord that will haunt us for many years to come. And it did it deliberately. It divided not only families, but also friends, neighbours, and nations into opposing corners.

Я — волонтёр. Помощь беженцам стала моим способом справиться с новой реальностью. Уже почти 3 месяца я помогаю тем, кто, бежав от войны, оказался в моём городе.
Мы с единомышленниками организовали чат в телеграме, и небольшую активную команду волонтёров-координаторов.
В нашем городе волонтёрское движение не очень развито, нас мало. Зато нам здорово помогают волонтёры из других городов: шлют посылки и делятся опытом организации.
Масштаб отзывчивости и солидарности людей в волонтёрском движении меня поразил. При всём ужасе, который натворил наш президент, у него оказалась вот такая замечательная побочка: люди тянутся друг к другу, готовы помогать, чем умеют и поэтому находятся новые потрясающие друзья, совершаются настоящие подвиги.
Нашлись преподаватели, которые взялись бесплатно подготовить детей к школе. Мы очень быстро собрали средства, чтобы помочь девушке пройти платные курсы и найти работу. У нас есть автоволонтеры, которые помогают нам с логистикой. В общем, люди готовы помогать, кто чем и как может. Это помогает ощущать почву под ногами, и бороться с ощущением бессилия.
И да, среди беженцев есть люди очень разных взглядов. Есть очень пропутински настроенные. Недавно один пожилой мужчина из «освобождённого» городка говорил мне, что мы должны благодарить бога за такого талантливого руководителя, как наш президент. Перед этим они показывали мне фото своей угнанной и разбитой машины, на боку которой красуется наклейка Z.
А другой мужчина объяснял мне, как много пропаганды на войне и поэтому нужно слушать Соловьёва, чтобы понимать правду. У этого мужчины сгорела квартира от попадания снаряда. Но всё равно — «нас освободили».
Я уже не удивляюсь, остаётся только принять, что это — реальность.
И, по-моему, это одно из самых страшных преступлений кремлёвского режима: он рассорил два народа, посеял ненависть и раскол, которые будут аукаться нам ещё много лет. И сделал это сознательно. Развёл не только семьи, но и друзей, соседей, народы по разным углам.
